Description
Our natural thyme essential oil for aromatherapy is obtained from the plant with the botanical name Thymus vulgaris In international practice, the product bears the name Thyme natural essential oil for aromatherapy. The plant belongs to the family Lamiaceae and develops as a low-growing subshrub with stems that become woody at the base, characteristic of the Mediterranean representatives of this genus. The subshrub finds suitable conditions in Bulgaria, where the raw material used originates. The raw material is grown naturally, without synthetic auxiliary substances, and the flowering stalk is used for extraction. The stalk undergoes steam distillation, which separates only the volatile part of the raw material and therefore leaves a fragrance with a clear and pure character. The fragrance reveals a spicy core, over which lies a light citrus trace. The trace complements the rich olfactory character, while the aroma itself remains strong. The richness goes hand in hand with the liquid consistency, which is why the product retains a homogeneous appearance when inspected in daylight. The flowering top of the stalk carries phenolic substances, so the liquid acquires a yellow-brown to red-brown tone, familiar from the crude oil of this species. The tone derives solely from the plant material, as the composition remains entirely natural. Cultivation without synthetic agents preserves the structure of the composition, and the liquid contains no preservatives or artificial colourants. Moreover, the absence of supplements allows the aromatic profile to unfold without extraneous nuances. The profile retains the characteristic scent of thymol, familiar from representatives of this botanical species. The scent of thymol shapes the spicy side of the fragrance, together with the soft sweet notes that come from the same flowering stalk. The strong spicy character of thyme derives from the phenolic part of its essential composition.
Application
Natural thyme essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy, where its supportive and toning profile promotes emotional and physical balance. Through a diffuser or aroma lamp, it freshens the air in the home, office and bathroom, helps create a relaxing and cosy atmosphere and supports better sleep with night-time diffusion. Inhaling and inhalations are applied to ease breathing during colds, for sinus problems with an aroma inhaler and as accompanying care in respiratory infections and cough. In morning rituals the oil energises body and mind and increases mental clarity and concentration during work and study, and in the evening it complements rituals for relaxation, meditation and yoga. It helps balance emotions in tense moments, reduces nervousness, anxiety before sleep and irritability, lifts the spirits after emotional strain and contributes to restoring vitality in fatigue and weakness. The aroma is also used for freshening bed linen, pillows, home textiles, wardrobes and drawers, for compresses for tension in the neck area, for relaxation after sports activities and after a busy day, and for harmonising shared spaces during family gatherings. It complements self-care when travelling, in fatigue and in adaptation to the change of seasons, maintains a good mood and a sense of well-being and enriches personal aromatic rituals in everyday life.
